The Terminal Date

Chapter 1 - The Meet - Now " Thambi , don't you have change? Don't you even think it is unfair to give 2000 rupee note for a bottle of water?" "Sorry Anna . Have only Rs.15 otherwise." Elan was wondering what other options he has. Return the bottle? Go to the next shop? Go to the ATM at the CMBT's concourse to withdraw some cash? 'Have to rule it out. ATM will rule it out.' "Anna, Can I use Paytm to make the payment?" "For Rs.20?" "I will pay Rs.100. You can give me some change also." "I don't trust these things. And even I don't have any change to return. Either you pay Rs.20 or leave. Its 12 in the night and I have no mood to argue." Elan kept the bottle on top of the boxes with butter biscuits and was about to leave, when he heard "I can give you change." It sounded familiar. He turned to his right to find a familiar face. The girl who lived opposite to his house at Nerku...

The Hedge

Prologue "Fucker! You son of a whore! Be a man. Be a real man. Fight me one on one. Fight like a real man with bare hands and clenched fists. Don't be a sucker. Throw it away, and stop being a bitch." He was screaming at man opposite to him and posing like a boxer. "Come on! Come on! You bastard." He looked at the other guys. "And you guys will know what makes a real man." "Are you nuts?" The man in suit was asking the screaming guy. He turned to his group of men. "He is nuts." He turned to the screaming man "Do I look like Bruce Lee?" Tut! "Do I look like sepoys of the yore?" Tut! "Does this look like a boxing glove?" Tut!    Three bullets, one through the right eye, one through the neck, and the final one through the heart had ended the screaming man's life. My Word!

Chapter Seven Friday, Morning 6.45 AM The man was getting ready to leave for work, wearing his trousers, and looking at his six  year old son who was sleeping peacefully. "You are my treasure and my hope." He gently whispered into the son's ears and took the breakfast and lunchbox from his wife and left the house in a hurry. Took the bicycle out, and pedaled along quickly to the street corner, and took the first right, which will lead him to the main road. As he turned right, he slowed down, and smiled widely. He was still recollecting what his wife had said as he woke up in the morning from the kitchen. "You know what your son said yesterday as he returned from the school?" As he recollected what his wife said, he couldn't control his emotions, and didn't bother to stop the fluids flowing from his eye. Being the Man of the house, he couldn't let a tear drop, in front of his wife. Even if it was a tear of joy.  He felt light, yet he felt heav...

The Recipe for Success

Now..... He was finally on the stage. Hundreds of people cheering. Thousands of eyes staring at him incredulously. The spotlight on him felt good. The brightness was blinding. So was the adulation. So were the claps.  It felt strange. There was this brightness. There was this darkness around. In that darkness, it wasn't emptiness he saw. It was a world full of opportunities. A world where you can succeed. Life isn't always about being booed or shooed away. It isn't always about failure. It isn't always about being ridiculed on your failure. You aren't a comedian. Even if you are, you can succeed. With success, you become hero. He was one. Today. Atlast. "We welcome, the winner of the day's mega mega maha maha event, Mr. Chapram!!!!" His already swelled body swelled even further. His friends were whistling. He could he hear it all. Few Months Earlier...... "Do you know what it is?" "Ye.....s.... Sir." ...

[Continued from Part One (Click Here for Part One)  Recommended: Read Part One before You Read Part Two] Part Two - The Accountant "Its my turn!" He asserted once again, and started his dissection. Round Seven : First Wicket (The Production Head) "I am starting with the Production Department. "What has been said, need not be repeated. What is unsaid, has to be said. The production capacity is presently stretched. The machineries will not be in a position to withstand such utilisation level. I am pretty sure, our Chairman will recollect the Machine Manufacturer's presentation couple of years back. They were very clear on one thing - The machine's capacity has been given as almost 20 tonnes on the assumption of utilisation throughout the year. But, any usage beyond 18.75 tonnes is not recommended. In fact, it is prohibited. If it is done so, a monthly maintenance should be done by engaging their services. I am afraid, our production manager is ...
